Helping leaders to drive positive change through

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION, TRAINING, FACILITATION, COACHING, MENTORING AND SPEAKING.

I am a leadership development specialist and coach who designs, delivers and evaluates customised courses and programs for emerging and executive leaders. I work primarily work with sustainability leaders, leaders from the water sector and executive business leaders.

My purpose:

To use my knowledge and experience in leadership development to help build the leadership capacity of enthusiastic, self-motivated people to enable them to fulfil their purpose, and drive positive change to create healthier communities and environments.

My core values that guide what I do:

  • Enabling others: Working with enthusiastic, self-aware, ethical and authentic leaders who are intrinsically motivated to grow as leaders, discover and achieve their purpose, drive positive change and assist others to do the same.
  • Integrity: Acting ethically and demonstrating integrity at all times.
  • Sustainability: Working with others to achieve outcomes that are sustainable from an economic, social and ecological perspective.
  • Learning: Continuously learning and helping others to do the same.
  • Evidence-based design: Using reliable and relevant research to design, deliver and evaluate leadership development interventions in order to maximise their return on investment.

My background:

I began my professional career in the early 1990s as an environmental manager and scientist, and spent the first half of my career working as a sustainability specialist and leader in the water sector. In the mid-2000s I chose to specialise in institutional capacity building and leadership development as a mechanism to drive more sustainable practices in the water sector.

In 2010 I completed a midcareer PhD in leadership and leadership development to help this transition. Since then, I have worked solely as a leadership development specialist who engages in course/program design, facilitation, training, coaching, mentoring and speaking.

My university qualifications:

BSc (Hons, 1st class) – University of Tasmania

MEM – University of Queensland

PhD (focusing on emergent leadership by ‘champions’ and approaches to leadership development) – Monash University

In addition to working as an independent consultant since 2006, other leadership development roles I have held include:

  • Leadership Specialist at the International WaterCentre (Griffith University).
  • Adjunct faculty (incl. course developer and facilitator for the ‘Leading Change for Sustainable Development’ course within the award-winning Master of Environment and Sustainability), Monash Sustainable Development Institute, Monash University.
  • Adjunct faculty (incl. course designer, coordinator and facilitator for the ‘Leadership’ MBAx course, and AGSM executive education course designer and facilitator), Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) at the University of New South Wales Business School.
